Annemarie Gardens, Solomons, Maryland
An affiliate of the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum, Annmarie Garden located on Maryland’s Western Shore is the ideal setting for a comprehensive masterplan focused on developing a wildflower and native grass educational program.
Our mission statement for the masterplan is to educate the public on environmental practices. The design goal establishes the meadow area with a large outdoor classroom in the center.
Our services included a sustainable masterplan with a focus on improving the adjoining terraces, landscape, gardens and access to the Murray Arts Center. A butterfly pavilion was created east of the Arts Center to introduce a full working greenhouse, home for butterflies, and educational attraction for students and guests.
The design prioritizes environmental upgrades by creating a stormwater management and grading plan and educating the public via environmental practices, such as recycling, water harvesting, solar energy, swales, rain gardens and biodiversity.
